A Bus Warning LED Light Repaired
A bus driver who works for an international organization pulled his bus next to my shop and showed me something that needed repair. This driver transports physically and mentally challenged people from their home to their special school. On that bus there is elevator for people with wheel chairs and every time that back door is opened a LED light panels on both doors come on as warning lights that the elevator is active and to be aware of it.
It has four LED lights and when they come on, the programmer goes through a different pattern of lights which was cool to watch.
With this kind of LED lights, they are usually connected in series and when a LED or two go out, the whole panel stops working. So basically I was looking for a defected LED light on that Panel. Let us begin.
The reflecting glass was taken off and as you can see, there are four LED lights on this panel. It is easy to search for the defective LED light using a multi meter testing one LED each time. If you want to test the whole thing at the same time you need to buy a LED light tester or you can build one on your own.
I connected the positive probe to the positive side of the LED light with the negative probe to the negative side of it; the LED light came on showing a red color which means it was working fine.
As you can see, the defective LED light was found and it had to be replaced.
I took the defective LED light out but I could not find the right size LED light for replacement.
I replaced it with a smaller size one but it did the job. Sorry I did not take a photo of the finished repair.
I put everything back together and installed the LED panel back on the bus and when I opened the door this is what I saw. Take a look
Here you could only see the two lights coming on because as I mentioned before, the panel goes through patterns of light at the time.
Mission accomplished.

Good job! and after all those Welding machines, Church amplifiers, and now Bus lights you probably also will fix electric Wheel chairs one of these days?
Albert: thanks. yes I do fix wheel chairs power supplies and many other items. whatever comes my way and I can fix, I accept and repair and get paid for it.
Greetings, Waleed. I realize you are a “broad-band” repairer. Thanks for this new knowledge.
Henrique: yes I am. whatever comes my way I take. you are most welcome
Am working on the led tv. when the light is connected on the controller the output diodes of power supply over heats forces the tv lights to go off. what could be the problem?
OYO: “when the Light is connected on the controller” what do you mean? you mean lights connected to the booster circuit on the power supply? how long does it for the diode to over heat? during this time of over heating the back lights are on then it shuts down or it shuts down right away in seconds time? if that is the case, you might have problem with the power supply or there is a short in progress in the back light circuit or the back light themselves have problems. please give me more information so I can help you.
