A dead charger for an Asus laptop brought back to life
A regular customer of mine brought his charger for repair. Although he lives far away from my shop yet he made the effort drive all the way to get his charger fixed.
According to the customer this was the original charger and that is why he wanted to get fixed.
The moment I powered up the charger, I could hear some electrical zapping inside the charger which indicates a loose connection. When I checked with my multimeter, there was no reading whatsoever.
Once I opened the charger, right away I was able to spot on the problem. There was a burnt mark (as you can see) on the right hand of the device.
Here is a closer look to the faulty area.
That explained the electrical zapping sound that I heard when I powered up the device.
After cleaning the affected area and soldering everything back together, I checked for bad soldering joints but did not find any.
I called the customer to come and pick up his device. He was drinking coffee in a nearby coffee shop and that he is coming right away. I was surprised to see the customer coming to my shop and brought coffee with him.
We talked and had good laugh and I enjoyed every minutes of it.
Mission Accomplished.

Good job! Waleed
That’s good spirit, no job too small!
Don: big or small a repair is a repair. have a blessed day
In the Bible there was no coffee, only wine and water. (And no Alcohol yet either if I’m well informed?). So we now can only be greatful for those moments of ease just drinking our coffee alone or together with friends. And after a good repair it tastes even better!
Albert: it was a time well spent with customer..coffee added some nice time and the conversation was beyond fantastic. for future repairs, this was also a time well shared
Hey Waleed.
I’m glad it was an easy fix. Sometimes they are the best.
Well done on your repair.
Mark: indeed. sometimes an easy fix is what is needed after a week of hard repair issues. have a blessed day
strongly i thank you for that work u did
Paul: you are most welcome. have a blessed day
does the wine not have alcohol in it?
If yes, the question remains if they already knew how to produce pure alcohol? (;)
Good and fast job, Waleed. Just a doubt: which type of components was burnt? Value?
Henrique: no damaged components just bunt area and cold soldering joints.
Good Job!
Parasuraman: thank you my friend. have a blessed day
