A Dead Display on physiotherapy mobile Device repaired. Model 277
A physical therapist brought this device for repair. He is a friend and also a relative of mine. It was a functional device except for the display, it was completely dead. It is pointless to have a functional device without a display to see what the machine is actually doing.
It was a beat up device and as you can see, the therapist tried to make the device look better by covering the facing of it.
From what I saw on the inside, all the screws were broken and I had to modify that as well.
That is the sticker of the model number for more information on the device. It is made in USA and when I checked it out on the internet, it was an expensive device.
That is the first thing that I saw when I took it apart. It is a modified power supply attached with a rubber band. All the voltages where present so where are ok with that power supply for now.
The LCD screen lies beneath this board. Everything seems in order here.
That is the main board and there were some dirty spots there because the therapist told me that he had to press hard to make the buttons work.
I did that cleaning as you can see but still the main issue of the screen was not fixed.
As I looked to this key, it was a 10k resistance key and the moment I turned the knob and checked the resistance with a multimeter, it was not functional. I had to press on the knob down to make it work. It was clear to me that since this key have to do with the contract of the LCD screen, it had to be replaced with a new one and hope for the best.
This is the bed key that I had to replace. I opened it to see if I can restore it but it was broken up on the inside; it was not repairable.
I had a 10K key in my shop that was taken out of a welding machine. It is too big to fit in the place of this broken one but I was thinking of testing it out to see if it works or not. Take a look
I soldered it on board and turned the device on. The display was back and I was happy to see the results.
It was working fine. Now I had to find a place to fit the new knob on this device.
I drilled a hole on the body of the device and mounted the new knob on and fixed it with a nut and it was great. My main disappointed is that I forgot to take a photo of it. Anyway, it worked like a charm and the customer was happy to see his machine fully restored inside out. Mission accomplished.

Very professionally ease at work troubleshooting! None can match you!
Parasuraman: thank you. have a blessed day
Maybe you just could have fitted in 2 resistors instead of one big potentiometer with the right values to set the contrast?
Albert: I could have but the customer was happy with the results. have a blessed day
Hi,I am one fan person of you about your repair skills.Especially on cell phones.I have a repair problem.I have an old dvb-s sat receiver. It has a BSBE1-701a tuner and faulty, what tuner can I replace this off new generation dvb-s tuners with?If you answer,I will be very glad…
Hakan: thanks man. I would recommend to replace the turner with the same exact number otherwise you will face some issues dues to the difference of frequencies.
I can not find BSBE1-701A anywhrere;bsbe2-401a for dreambox receivers everywhere ;nothing on Aliexpress…
Excellent, Waleed. Thanks for sharing. How did you fix the broken screws? And when you say a 10K key, wouldn´t it be a 10K potentiometer?
Henrique: thanks man. the female screws were sitting inside a plastic part and that part was broken. I added super glue to the metal female parts inside the plastic pieces then I screwed the screws back. i could not do on all of them but I did what i can because it was a mess inside.
yes, 10k is the potentiometer.
Good job Waleed. I think you must have saved your relation a small fortune!
Ian: thanks. Have a blessed day
