A dead security camera brought back to life
A customer brought this security camera for repair. The main complaint it does not power up. This camera has a rotating head that covers all angles and it is wireless.
Since it has a power issue, I decided to open it and check it out.
Once the top cover was off, I could see inside the body of the camera. It was only a board with different connections on it.
There are the motor, wireless connection cable and other sockets that have to do with power and camera issues.
This is an extra shot taken after I took the board off. Again, the motor and wires connected to the camera.
Did you see the power issue on this board? The mini USB charging socket was missing.
I asked the customer if he could find the missing piece and he said no. I had to look for a part like that at the hard ware store. At the hard ware store, the guy there has many sockets with different sizes. The down side of that is all of them are really bad quality and made in China. It did not cost much so I bought one to try it out.
It fits perfectly on the logic board and it looked good
This is not the finished product because I think I took a photo of it before I soldered on board and it seems like I forgot to take a photo of it after the work was done. Anyway, here is the outcome of the repair.
Once I connected the camera to my laptop, I could see the red LED on and the head started to rotate. Mission accomplished.

Good job! Those mini USB connectors are not capable to withstand any force.
