A Hovering Board Charging Port Improved and Modified
If you recall a while ago, I did a repair about replacing a charging port on a hovering board. At that time, I replaced the original charging port which was very hard to find and too expensive to buy. Today, I got the same exact problem with a different hovering board but this time I came with ideal replacement that was tested for a while now and proved to be perfect answer to such problem. Take a look.
This is what I usually see in such machines all the time. It has three pins and you have to match the notch found on both the charger cable and the notch found on the actual port. If you did not alien that notch right, you will end up breaking one of the pins.
The perfect answer to such issue is to have one pin and that way, you cannot break any because there are no pins to break.
I used a heavy duty AV male and female audio plug. The hovering board charger is producing 42 DC volts up to 2 amps ratings. I had doubts at first and decided to test it out. I took the old charging port off and replaced it with the new one.
It has a screw nut that fitted perfectly in the whole. Positive and negative terminals are seen very clearly.
The charging port wires in this one had two reds and two black ones.
I combined the two reds and the two blacks and soldered them to the plug.
The next step was to cut off the original charging plug that is connected to the charger and replace it with the new AV male plug.
It seems like I that forgot to take a photo of the new plug but you can still see it connected to the hovering new board charging port. And if you look to the light on the actual charger it is red which mean it is charging the way it should be.
As I was charging the hovering board battery, I was monitoring any heat on that plug. It actually worked. There was no heat what so ever. I have modified a lot of these devices and so far no complain.
Mission accomplished.

A very innovative way to solve a problem that apparently works very well! It seems that the manufacturer has made a bad illogical choice to use these 3 pin plugs that only break a lot without the necessity for it to have 3 pins anyway! Still instead of using plain heavy duty AV male and female audio plugs you also could have used the standard power plugs too which are designed for these higher amp purposes?
Albert: thanks. yea I could use standard power plugs but i have plenty of the AV male and female plug in my shop..so for now, it should be ok. thanks for the input.
Very efficient solution. Well done!
