A LED Light Repair And Modification
A LED light device was brought to my shop for repair; and the main issue was, it does not power up. In fact, the actual LED light on this device was missing and when I asked the customer about that he said, that LED light works on 6 AC volts and we cannot find the replacement for it.
As I took it apart, I found out this transformer works on 220 AC input and has 6 AC output and understood later on that it has a motor that runs also on 6 AC volts.
Based on what information I already have I decided to modify the device by letting the motor that is already running on 6 AC volts to be connected to that motor and add an input of 220 AC volts to power on the LED lights.
I connected the AC cables to the two terminals of the LED lights and added a heat shrink tubes to it for isolation and let it through the metal body of the device to be connected to the input of the transformer.
As I connected the LED light to the main AC input of the transformer and connected the motor to the existed 6 AC volts, and power on the device, it was up and running. Check it out.
The Light came on and the motor was spinning as expected.
Now, it is time to put everything back together for the final result.
As the motor rotates, it spins with it the color wheal that gives out nice looking colors in the process.
Mission Accomplished.

Good thing that you used heat shrink isolation tubes on the 220V wires of the new replacement 220VAC led light since touching the unsafe 220V AC input is to be avoided at all costs. Of course only touching the previous 6V AC transformer led output would have been without any danger. The modification at best produces the same level of heat as the original 6V AC led light would have if it was still available.
Albert: it is always better to work and do safe work for me and my customers. one problem I faced with that LED light and that is because it is a flood beam kind of light it was not as good as the original LED 6 volts light.
Excellent and clever modification to save the device! The customer must be very happy to have it working better than before! Well done, Waleed!
Parasuraman: thanks man. I appreciate it very much. it was a good modification but later on I discovered the light pattern was a diffusing one not focused and that created not to have the desired effect of the rotating color wheel. it is working fine but I am still trying to find a way to focus the beam better..have a blessed day
