How to Repair a Dead HP Laptop
A computer technician brought this laptop for repair. The laptop was completely dead and there was sign of life in it except the voltage reading on the main power socket from the inside of the laptop.
The laptop was already opened when it got to my shop.
The computer technician explained that he replaced the power female power socket inside the laptop which caused some issues.
As I press the power button on this laptop the fan does not spin and there were no voltage readings at the battery pins which indicated a faulty part somewhere on the board.
I flipped the board to other side and started testing for voltages there. When I got to the Mosfet, it was getting 19 volts but there was nothing coming out of it.
I took it off board with my hot air station and tested it. It was faulty
It is a very tiny part that almost sits on the tip of my figure. The part number is B04N03 and below is the link of the datasheet. Please click on the photo below to access to the datasheet:
Once I replaced the faulty part, the fan was spinning and I got voltages at the battery pins but it was peeping. It was beeping five times, three long beeps and two short beeps which according to the HP information this has to do with memory chips not installed on the laptop. I asked the technician to come over to my shop and bring the memory chips with him. After installing the memory chips, the computer was up and running.
Sorry I could not take a photo of the laptop screen when it was up and running due to the fact that the customer was in my shop at that time. This was taken before he came to the shop. Anyway, laptop was up and running, customer happy and I was happy too. Mission accomplished.

I guess that you must have asked what issues the computer technician experienced after he replaced the power female power socket in this computer? And what he did exactly that had caused crashing this continuous 90Amp drain current mosfet? It must have been an over-current or over-voltage somehow.
Yes I did ask but the way he answered me I do not think that he has a clue what he did. It happens a lot in his shop. It is not the first laptop he brings me with such repair issues.
thnaks sir Waleed
