How To Repair Stuck DVD Tray In Dell Laptop
Received dell laptop for repair for DVD not working problem. I have checked the DVD by pressing the eject button light blinks but tray does not come out. I have tried with the pin and by applying more pressure I am able to eject the tray. For more inspection I have decide to remove the DVD unit from the laptop.
After opening the DVD drive I found left side railing of the tray is broken and the broken part is also missing. This may because of either someone had applied more pressure for removing the DVD from the drive or banged the laptop on the floor.
So for this repair there is no another option than replacing the new DVD drive. So I have ordered the new drive & installed.
On testing new drive I found this drive is also making grinding sound while eject process & tray still remain inside and is not ejecting. So where is the fault?
Again I have removed this drive for further inspection. while in removing process I have noticed one cable inside the cradle is blocking the DVD while pulling out. So for this behavior I have to dismantle the laptop and see what the reason behind this is. After dismantling the laptop I found the physical damage in side.
Wire of Bluetooth antenna is came out of the groove because of Damaged Hinges.
So first of all I have to Repair Screw insert holder broken plastic.
I have revived the plastic hole with the Help of Cotton and cyanoacrylate adhesive (Super Glue). This work needs little practice and R & D. after the process I have re fitted the hinges and the wire on its proper place and reassembled the laptop. Now I have tried to eject the DVD tray and this time I have got the success.
New drive is not ejecting before because the loose cable is making pressure on the DVD front side on fitting in the laptop hence the Tray was not ejecting.
