Loading problem on a DVD player repaired. Pioneer DV-535
My son approached me while at home and said that our DVD player is having problems. He told me that he was opening the DVD tray but the tray when it was open fully, it closes back fast not giving him enough time to put the CD on the tray.
This DVD player is a part of the sound system that I had for almost 12 years which started to show some issues that needed some attention.
I have seen this kind of issues before and it is any easy fix.
It is a matter of opening the device and lubricates some parts. Let us start.
As you can see, it is very clean on the inside since all my equipment are sitting in a closet especially made for such system.
Our problem is located in the CD tray itself so it has to come off for maintenance.
As expected, the bell for the tray and the motor were in good shape. So I headed to where the actual problem is. As you can see in the photo, there is a switch under this board. This switch is an important part of this device that actually tells you if the tray is closed or open.
Sometimes, the actual switch is broken or has cold soldering joints but in this case the soldering joints were in perfect condition.
It looked very clean on the outside but that does not mean it is clean on the inside. This switch is too dirty on the inside and it is not connecting well to the main board of the DVD player therefore giving the wrong command to close the tray. The answer to this small yet important issue is a contact spray and the problem is solved.
After cleaning, the tray was open all the way and stayed open until I press the close or the play button to load the disk.
Mission Accomplished.

Hello please guide me to know the best (laser lens)/optical pickup for Sony dvd DVP-SR520P i lost the first one and i can’t remember the code no; please please help me.
Thanks for information about this sensor.
I have disassembled, moved the sensor and works again without lubricant.
Added lubricant anyway !
More informations about disassembly would have been interesting, I’ve searched some time about how to remove the tray.
Repair worked a treat :-)
I had to remove and strip down the switch and clean the contact surfaces.
