Tactical Switch Problem In Fan Control Board
Customer brought the Deluxe Stand fan for repair with the complaint of no power. I powered up the fan and pressed on the On/off button and there was no response. Take a look at the photo below:
The first thing I did was to open up the cover and on the internal main fuse. The fuse was found to be good so this means there is no serious short circuit.
Now, I should focus checking on the tactical switch (micro switch) because if the on/off switch is bad then the fan cannot be turned on.
There are few tactical switches were having problem after I have examined all of them. I have stock for such switches and the replacement was done.
I then powered up the fan and all the fan functions were immediately appeared and I knew that I had solved the problem.
Conclusion- Assuming if the switches were all tested good then I may have to perform the DC voltage test on the fan control board or even replace the fan control main IC if all components were tested good.

I have a tendency to put silicone oil in such switches, and it normally works.
I’d prefer using the proper contact cleaner for this purpose. Silicone oil are mainly used as lubricants.
A pro job and another happy customer!
Very useful information, with, as usual an expert finish!
Good job, Suranga.
If you do not have the spare parts, the switch, you could try to use contact cleaner to spray on the bad contact switch and then press it 20 to 40 times in all direction immediately; by using a multimeter to measure the resistance of it to see whether the resistivity of it reduce or not; you could spray it again and repeat the above. In case the resistivity of it could not back to acceptable value, then you have to replace it.
Thanks Suranga and to you Lau Darie I like your simple spraying method. Interesting articles guys.
Thanks for the good job, its well understood.
